Marta Cali.
“I live and work in Buenos Aires. I studied drawing
and painting in various workshops and carried out an investigation
in composition and colour in the Pueyreddon Art School. For
a time I worked with the Chinese artist M.C. Wang. In the mid
nineties I travelled to Europe and met up with Scottish artist
Ian Hamilton Finlay. Part of my work - that exhibited since
1990 – derives from my residency in his studio: my notes
and drawings realised in Little Sparta. I prefer to represent
ideas in the simplest manner and as such I use different tools,
those that best adapt to my needs: drawing, photography, the
digital. From the real, I create the unreal, a feedback that
is constantly coming and going. Some of my works can be found
in collections: MAMBA, Buenos Aires Museum of Modern Art, MNBA
National Fine Art Museum, MACRO Rosario Museum of Contemporary
Art, CCEBA Spanish Cultural Centre as well as in various private
collections.”
