"The Celebration of the Lizard" Naná Gallardo
| |
Naná explores her personality through an exploration of her own body, the camera allowing her to discover her own internal framework. The body as a toy; the body as an object of fetish; the body as receptacle of life. Often Naná photographs herself in front of the mirror, a mirror that returns her image as if that duplication in itself permitted her a real notion of her existence. Without doubt, this process requires a particular relation with her personal body language. In notable symphony with certain works by Francis Bacon - whose representation of the human figure employs the painterly in observation of the drama of the human condition - in her images Naná reveals to us, like a modern romantic heroine, the drama of her own vulnerability.
