Sudestada brings together a group of notable young artists who
spent a good part of the year in the Tigre delta, some 30 minutes
from the city of Buenos Aires. All of them have found - in the
waters of the river Paraná and its tributaries –
the inspiration to create their artwork.
In this sense they continue the tradition of notable predecessors
such as Fernando Fader, Jorge Larco, Horacio Butler and Xul
Solar, all of whom sought their elusive muse in the delta.
However, whilst these great figures yearned for a refuge for
their individuality, in contrast the seven artists of Sudestada
present an intense and personal portrait of their shared life,
in the community of holiday homes on the rivers Capitán
y Carapachay.
Sudestada is much more than a landscape exhibition. Rarely does
such a group of creators come together at the same time and
in the same place. VVVgallery presents Sudestada both in celebration
of the quality of their artwork and for the friendship that
they share.
